Stockport College student Christopher Green was invited to visit Nott’s County FC after he won the ‘I’m running the show’ competition as part of Colleges Week.
Chris, 18, from Stockport was invited to the Meadow Lane Stadium, the home of Notts County FC. He visited the players’ training ground to watch the players train. Chris was then invited back to the stadium to have lunch with the manager, players and coaching staff allowing him to talk to some of the stars.
Chris said: “I was thrilled to win this competition and have the great opportunity to visit Meadow Lane and meet the manager, coaching staff and players. The whole day was very enjoyable and it was exciting to see some of the behind the scene preparations before a match.”
Chris also had the opportunity to meet the team’s top scorer Lee Hughes, he added: “It was an honour to meet Notts County top goal scorer Lee Hughes and have a picture taken with him.”
The competition consisted of students creating short videos on what they would do if they were a football manager for a day. Chris recorded his friend Adam Bailey explaining how if he were Stockport County FC manager, he would give more opportunities to youth players in football. Their video was recorded at Edgeley Park the home of Stockport County FC.
Finally, Chris was taken on a tour around the Meadow Lane Stadium where he had the opportunity to go pitch-side and see some of the facilities, such as the changing rooms, managers’ office and the gym.
In addition, Chris and a friend have been invited back to watch Nott’s County play Cheltenham on May 1st at Meadow Lane.
